I watched an episode from the new season of 24 last night. It looks like the same plot devices are back for another year, and I have trouble believing that this show can actually hold people's attention (for more than a few episodes) when each year's story is so similar to the last.
I laughed out loud when I heard Kiefer Sutherland tell someone (I think it was the President, who this year is a woman) that "we're running out of time" -- the way that he says it, with an absolute lack of irony, is spectacular. The show is definitely focusing -- again -- on the theme of torture and under what conditions (if any) it is justifiable.
112. Does this show still get good ratings? I remember watching a full season with Billy (it must have been the second or third), on Thomson Road, and being absolutely rapt by the level of suspense and the fun, over-the-top characters. But after so many seasons of the same routine, is it still pulling in viewers?
113. Do any high-level members of the Obama administration (or did any high-level members of the Bush administration) watch the show?
114. Will the woman who plays Chloe be able to parlay her quasi-fame, from this show, into an ongoing television or movie career?
