Today a suicide bomber (using a car) killed at least 30 people and injured more than 100 in Lahore, Pakistan. The bombing target police and intelligence offices.
Lahore is in Punjab, close to the border with India. It's the same city where the Sri Lankan cricket team was attacked earlier this year.
For the past several weeks, the Pakistan government has been conducting an offensive against the Taliban in the Swat Valley (in the northwest), and although no group has claimed responsibility for the Lahore bombing yet it sounds like it may be in retaliation for the Swat offensive.
234. Are there any US troops stationed in Pakistan? Are US troops and/or the CIA involved in the operation in the Swat Valley?
235. This morning's Post says that North Korea announced it is disavowing the 1953 truce that ended the Korean War. If forced to rank these two problem-areas, would the Administration say that North Korea or an unstable Pakistan is the bigger threat to US interests? Which is the bigger threat to global security?
