The Daily Progress reports today that Tom Perriello has hired a new staff member, Brennan Johnson, who will hold a series of grant workshops throughout the 5th District to teach people, businesses, and local governments how to apply for stimulus funds.
From the article: "In a statement, Perriello said: 'Brennan Johnson and Ridge Schuyler will be my Economic Recovery Team, working closely with local officials to make this recovery bill produce results for families and small businesses of the 5th District.'"
This is a terrific step by Perriello of making government accessible to people. I am going to watch for the local workshops.
97. Where does the 5th District stand, relative to Virginia's other Congressional districts, in terms of how-badly-its-been-affected by the downturn?
98. Has Tidewater been affected less or more than some of the other areas of the state in light of all of the military economic activity that occurs there?
