Twittering During Obama's Speech

Obama spoke to a joint session of Congress last night (sort of a quasi-State of the Union address), and it sounds like he did a very nice job of balancing reality with optimism/encouragement.

Dana Milbank has a hilarious (depressing?) article in today's Washington Post about the large number of Congressmen who were twittering during the speech.

Some of the comments that were broadcast:

  • "One doesn't want to sound snarky, but it is nice not to see Cheney up there" Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.)
  • "I did big wooohoo for Justice Ginsberg" Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.)
  • "Capt Sully is here -- awesome!" Rep. John Culberson (R-Tex.)
  • "Place is on fire" Rep. Dennis Rehberg (R-Mont)
  • "I am sitting behind Sens Graham and McCain" Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Va.)
  • "Fixed the tele-prompter, I think" Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah)
My favorite is definitely McCaskill's use of the phrase "did big wooohoo." That is great.
