A House and Senate conference committee (or a small subcommittee thereof, according to a critical “this legislation was not transparently developed” piece by John Dickerson in Slate) agreed on a $789 billion version of the stimulus package yesterday.
Some of the specifics:
- $507 billion in spending programs
- (this includes $150 billion in public works projects for transportation, energy and technology)
- (and $87 billion to states for Medicaid)
- $282 billion in tax relief, including credits of up to $400 for individuals and $800 for families
- A one-time payment of $250 to Social Security recipients
- Another year of the Alternative Minimum Tax patch
61. I just checked the new website www.recovery.org, which is going to monitor the stimulus spending. How detailed and user-friendly will they make this site?
