UVa Football - Another Rough Season?

I read parts of Sports Illustrated’s college football preview special yesterday and am looking forward to games getting started in a couple of weeks (and to the arrival of beautiful fall more generally!).

Virginia went 5-7 last year and I’m having trouble remembering the last time we had a legitimately good season (I guess it was the year that we beat Minnesota in the Music City Bowl). It’s unclear whether Vic Hall or Jameel Sewell will start at QB (Jay Jenkins has the story in this morning's Progress, here), and the polls appear to be putting us ahead of only Duke in the ACC Coastal standings.
----
I had forgotten that last year ten ACC teams (everybody except us and Duke) went to bowl games – and yet none of the teams (excepting Va Tech, unfortunately) was really any good. Sounds like this year Georgia Tech is the team on the rise (preseason #12 nationally). They run an option spread offense and junior running back Jonathan Dwyer rushed for 1,395 yards last year and was the conference’s offensive player of the year.

SI picks Virginia Tech as the national preseason #5 but says that much will depend on Tyrod Taylor’s performance.

SI has Florida ranked #1 (Tim Tebow returns as QB) and Texas as #2 (with Colt McCoy back and Sergio Kindle as a 10-sack LB/DE who leads the defense). Florida’s only loss last year was to Ole Miss, 31-30.
